Exclusion led African Americans to struggle constantly for the right to learn and for the right to be taught in an equal and
nonsegregated setting (Raffel, 1998).
In popular narratives, it is the Supreme Court that gave Americans the right to
nonsegregated public spaces and schools, the right to an abortion, and the right to marry a partner of a different race or the same sex.
The punishment for causing or permitting the collection of
