Admiral Byrd

Wall has been assistant principal since the beginning of this school year, and previously was an instructional coach at Admiral Byrd, Clearmont and Devonshire elementary schools.

Eight years later when Admiral Byrd put together an expedition to the North Pole, Parker was selected to be one of the few aviators in that group.

Two ships were used by the expedition, Admiral Byrd's old ship, Bear of Oakland, that was reconditioned by the Navy and commissioned the U.S.S.

They were soon to enter hallowed ground, operating on the Beardmore between the footsteps of Shackleton and Scott, and on the Axel Heiberg along the ski tracks and airplane route of Roald Amundsen and Admiral Byrd, respectively, in their historic race to reach the South Pole!

Actually, Admiral Byrd probably took less clothing to the South Pole, but I wasn't about to argue.

Admiral Byrd's expedition to the South Pole was equipped with a two-year supply of Kellogg cereals.
