Chocolate Soldier, the operetta based on Shaw's Arms And The Man.
Arms and the Man, Shaw's combination of social criticismand comedy about military heroics, was produced in Brazil in several incarnations and under several different titles including an operetta called O Soldado de Chocolate (The
Chocolate Soldier) which was the most commercially successful version of the play.
It was a splendid notion to bring Ivor Novello, Oscar Straus (no family connection) and Franz Lehar into this musical equation, with the very fine Illona Domnich drawing cheers from her audience with truly splendid performances of Novello's Waltz Of My Heart and that exquisite song from Oscar Straus's operetta The
Chocolate Soldier called My Hero.

Chocolate Soldier; Blood and Chocolate) and articles featuring it have run in everything from The Times to National Geographic.
