TDZ, [C.sub.8][H.sub.13][N.sub.3][O.sub.4]S, which is 1-(2-ethyl sulfonyl ethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitro-imidazole derivative, an antiparasitic drug, is used as an
antiprotozoal drug (molecular weight: 247.273 g/ mol).
Chloroquine is an
antiprotozoal drug primarily used in malaria which has much less side effects and cost as compared to antimony compounds.
Thus, inhibition of the biosynthetic steps of protozoal glycolipids is emerging as a realistic target for
antiprotozoal drug discovery (McConville, 1995).

Structurally related
antiprotozoal drugs, namely, nitroimidazole derivatives including metronidazole (MNZ), secnidazole (SNZ), tinidazole (TNZ), ornidazole (ONZ), and metronidazole benzoate (MB), etc., are a class of veterinary drugs and are used widely as antibacterial and antiprotozoan drugs in poultry and swine dysentery [1].
The cases most frequently involved analgesic and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (n=373, 25.2%); antiepileptic, antipsychotic, psychoactive, and anxiolytic drugs (n=229, 16.3%); antihistamine, asthma, flu, and cough drugs (n=157, 12.0%); and antibiotic, anti-fungal; and
antiprotozoal drugs (n=74, 5.0%).
ABSTRACT: The present study was carried out to determine the incidence rate of the Trypanosomiasis in Thari camels and observe the efficacy of various
antiprotozoal drugs. Five hundred camels were observed for the identification of trypanosomiasis by using blood smears (three thin and three thick blood smears from each animal) prepared from different localities of district Therparker.
