The
AWARN Alliance is a voluntary, international coalition of media, consumer electronics, and B2B technology firms and trade associations that have come together to utilize Next Generation Televisions, based on the ATSC 3.0 standard, for advanced emergency alerting, news, and information.
Developed by various Advanced Television Systems Committee members in parallel with the ATSC standardization process,
AWARN leverages ATSC 3.0's higher data throughout, more robust transmission and improved indoor reception.
To date, the
AWARN Alliance has served as a coalition of commercial and public broadcasters, consumer electronics makers, tech companies, and trade associations that's developing a voluntary advanced emergency messaging capability using the next-generation broadcast TV standard (ATSC 3.0).
At NAB 2019, in addition to the
AWARN Alliance's presence in Futures Park,
AWARN will be highlighted in the ATSC-CTA-NAB "Riding the Road to ATSC 3.0" exhibit in North Hall and Central Lobby and the U.S.
This agreement pledges expanded collaborations supporting broad deployment of Next Gen TV with
AWARN alerts."
By driving the capabilities envisioned under the ATSC 3.0 standard by groups like
AWARN, the DASDEC's new EAS-Net AEA feature will enable next-level urgent communications from stations to audiences -- with text, graphics, audio, and other advanced multimedia features -- that provide a more interactive way of communicating emergency information that goes far beyond basic EAS.

AWARN Alliance, applauded the Commission forunanimously approving theNPRM for voluntary adoption of ATSC 3.0.
The NPRM comes following an April 2016 joint petition for rulemaking from the NAB,America's Public Television Stations, the Advanced Warning and Response Network (
AWARN) Alliance and the Consumer Technology Association seeking the voluntary, market-driven proviso.
