Supravesical hernia can be seen on herniography (6) and in the consecutive series of 1000 cases Gullmo described 183 external and 1 internal supravesical hernia.
The treatment of such cases requires a definitive surgery including procedures such as correcting fluid electrolyte imbalance and performing blood transfusion in necessary cases, antibiotherapy, small bowel resection, anastomosis, and femoral herniography as well as providing nutritional support.
(9) The authors included 23 studies published since 1950, and found that herniography has a sensitivity of 91% and a specificity of 83%, ultrasound a sensitivity of 86% and a specificity of 77%, and computed tomography a sensitivity of 80% and a specificity of 65% in detecting occult inguinal hernias.
This block provides effective postoperative analgesia after colorectal surgery (4), caesarean delivery (5), inguinal herniography, open radical prostatectomy (6), laparoscopic cholecystectomy (7), open appendicectomy (8) and renal transplantation (9).
