Estral cycle estimation in females 1 and 2, on November--December 2013 and January 2014.
As female dogs are not induced ovulators, the progesterone is secreted during the whole
estral cycle contributing to the pathogenesis of this disease (NELSON & COUTO, 2001; HEDLUND, 2005).
Recent reports indicate that vaginal wall impedance readings are a reliable alternative in the determination of estrous cycle stage (3,5,9), since many species including the rat present variations in the inherent electrical resistance of the vaginal wall during the
estral cycle (9,10,12).
The results revealed: in both species of animals during the
estral cycle: Inmunorreactivity (RI) positive marked for estrogens in uterus, oviduct and ovary being comparatively much more numerous RE in dog oviduct that in sheep.
The rationale for choosing these schedule of plant administration was that for males, the period of spermatozoon maturation is about 60 days and for females, we derived an exposure for a minimum of eight
estral cycle periods (each
estral cycle is 4 days).
