The three programmes available are an MSc in
Biomedical Science, an MRes in Applied
Biomedical Sciences Research and an MRes in Applied Clinical Research.

biomedical science is tremendously rewarding and I hope to see some of the pupils we met returning to our labs as qualified professionals in a few years."
Yesterday's event was organised by the health board and Robert Gordon University (RGU) as part of the third annual
Biomedical Science Day.
BCUHB and Wrexham Glyndwr University have developed three postgraduate programmes, accredited by the Institute of
Biomedical Science (IBMS), which focus on different aspects of
biomedical science or clinical research: MSc
Biomedical Science, MRes Applied
Biomedical Sciences Research and MRes Applied Clinical Research.
They are joined by Artemio Salazar of the University of the Philippines (UP) Los Banos for agriculture; Rody Sy of UP Manila for
biomedical science; Ricardo Balog of the University of Santo Tomas and Elmer Dadios of De La Salle University for engineering; Gay Jane Perez of UP Diliman for environmental sciences and geology; and Charissa Marcaida Ferrera of UP Diliman for life sciences.

Biomedical Science Day last Thursday, manning a stand in the hospital's main atrium.
In line with this, it defines biomedical engineering as a discipline that advances knowledge in engineering, biology and medicine and improves human health through cross-disciplinary activities that integrate the engineering sciences with the
biomedical science and clinical practice.
In other words, at the current birth rate, for every new biology and
biomedical science PhD who secures a tenure-track academic position there are at least another 5.3 who should consider pursuing other opportunities, making up an astounding 84 per cent of new PhD graduates.
