Gloria begins with the joyful "Gloria in excelsis Deo" it continues with the more restrained "Et in terra pax hominibus".
The Gloria in D Major's first movement is unmistakably Vivaldi, with its joyous, energetic lyrics consisting solely of "Gloria in excelsis Deo." It is followed by the gentler, more sober second movement, which translates to "And on Earth, Peace."
