She was made a Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (DCVO) in 1999 for her service to the Royal Collection Trust.
Ranks: Knight or Dame Grand Cross (GCVO), Knight or Dame Commander (KCVO or DCVO), Commander (CVO), Lieutenant (LVO) and Member (MVO).
She then became a double Dame, receiving the DCVO on the occasion of the Queen's State Visit to South Africa in 1999.
