(kə-vē′tē, kä-vē′tĕ) A city of southwest Luzon, Philippines, on Manila Bay southwest of Manila. It has been an important naval base since Spanish times. The American facilities here were virtually destroyed in bombing raids by the Japanese on December 10, 1941.
