The almond tree, Prunus
amygdalus, bears fruit at between three and four years of age and is relatively easy to cultivate as it can be propagated from seed.
It also known that the almond tree is the only plant to have this toxin in its flowers' nectar; in fact, the tree's subgenus classification is
Amygdalus, after the toxin it produces.

Almond trees (prunus
amygdalus) are related to stone fruits such as cherries, peaches and plums and come in two major types--sweet and bitter.
The analysis focuses mainly on carrots (Daucus carotus sativa), melons (Cucumis melo), potatoes (Solaman tuberosum), oranges (Citrus sinensis), grapefruit (Citrus maxima), lemons (Citrus limon), limes (Citrus aurantifolia), grapes (vitis vinifera), and a variety of tree crops composed primarily of almonds (Prunus
amygdalus and peaches (Prunus persica).
The cherries then were Cerasus; the almonds and peaches
Amygdalus; the plums were Prunus; the apricots were Armeniaca; and bird cherries Padus.
In the Juniper zone, Juniper (Juniperous macropoda) or Chilli constitutes roughly 80 percent of the stand, while Wild Almonds (Prunus
amygdalus) or Hamar, and Pine Nuts (Pinus Gerardiana) or Chilgoza constitute about 10 percent each of the rest of the stand (see Table 1).
