Scott Hunter and Scott Hanselman talking about What's New in VS2013

Last year, about this time, a bunch of us sat down in a studio to give a full day of tutorials and discussion on "Building Web Apps with ASP.NET." All those videos are online and have lots of good content like:

We headed over to the Microsoft Virtual Academy Studios again just this last week for another full day of discussion, training, as well as a glimpse into the possible future of .NET. Between these two days of videos you'll get a real sense of what's possible and real advice on how to build your next web application.

Today we've got 7 all-new segments for you, each recorded live at the MS Studios.

These videos are featuring folks like Scott Hunter, Levi Broderick, Rowan Miller, Pranav Rastogi, Mads Kristensen, and Louis DeJardin. No marketing folks, just actual developers that work on ASP.NET every day.

Hi Scott

Nice video's ! (as the Azure Fridays, brilliant) . One question though, is it really that the new ASP.NET Identity system has a depency on EF ? Breaking separation of concerns?

Hope you can help!

Thanks.

I saw in Stuart Leeks blog that the azure tables asp.net identity implementation isn't for production, does Microsoft have plans to create an azure tables implementation to be used in production?
February 11, 2014 23:30
ASP.NET Identity system's core does not have a dependency on Entity Framework. You can build upon ASP.NET Identity and use your favorite persistence store. Following article has more information http://www.asp.net/identity/overview/extensibility/overview-of-custom-storage-providers-for-aspnet-identity which points to implementations of Identity on RavenDb, MongoDb etc.
So there is separation of concerns.
There is a EF specific implementation to use Sql Server as a storage mechanism.

Great post! I recently passed the 70-486 exam and realized that as of next month the exam will be targeting MVC 5. This content has helped a great deal in really wrapping my head around ASP.NET Identity and has me almost disappointed to not have waited :)

Thanks

Hi Scott, Great presentation!
Could you please give me a presentation for themes and switch between themes in MVC?
Like in "lightSwitch", is there any templates model (i.e. CustomerList/CustomerDetails) while creating the controller?

Good day! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering
if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment
form? I'm using the same blog platform as yours and I'm having problems
finding one? Thanks a lot!
